5 Step Goal Setting Methodology
1. Revisit (or define if you haven't already) your "Why".
Why are you setting goals in the first place? Why are you motivated to improve areas of your life? For most of us this is going to involve the people we care about and the positive impact we can have on them, alongside the emotions we want to experience on a daily basis. Write down your "Why" at the top of a blank page.
2. Define the areas of your life that you want to improve in.
Write them down spaced equally vertically on the page. For me these are; Personal Development, Family, Health & Fitness, Business, Career, and Financial.
3. Brain dump your major goals underneath each appropriate heading.
Limit these to 5 major goals per area of your life. Be bold. Be ambitious.
4. Break down your major goals into smaller S.M.A.R.T. goals; Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant & Time Bound.
This is going to take a lot of time and focused effort. I will devote about 15 hours to this; 1 hour per day, everyday, for a couple of weeks.
5. Create a Daily Accountability Calendar.
Buy yourself a notebook and write down 5 specific actionable tasks that are within your realm of control (but outside of your comfort zone or habitual routines) that relate to your S.M.A.R.T. goals at the start of every single day. As you complete the tasks cross them off the list. Once tasks start to fall within your comfort zone & become habitual, remove them and replace them with something else... you’ll do them automatically. Try and get every single task done every single day. Win the day. Stack those days to win the week. Stack those weeks to win the month. Stack those months to win the year.
Simple… but not easy. Which is why most people won’t do it.
With that in mind, if you find this Methodology useful I ask 2 things of you:
1. Actually do it. Put it into practice. Start now. I want to see you guys crush just like I do. It’s the sole reason why I’m sharing this with you.
2. Share this post with at least 1 friend who you think will also benefit from it. Let's spread the value around and help each other level up.
