Imposter Syndrome Isn’t A Sign You’re A Fake

When most people talk about imposter syndrome, they picture someone pretending.

Someone bluffing.
Someone “faking it until they make it.”
Someone who's full of shit.

But real imposter syndrome doesn’t live there.

It lives in real high performers.

Builders.
Leaders.
People who actually care about doing things well.

And the higher you climb, the louder it gets.

Which sounds backwards, until you understand this…

When you’re growing, your identity is always catching up to your reality.

Your results expand faster than your self-perception.
Your responsibility grows faster than your comfort.
Your expertise deepens faster than your confidence can stabilise.
 
That gap                                    is where imposter syndrome lives.

Not because you don’t belong, but because you’re stretching into a version of yourself you haven’t fully normalised yet.

There is only one real antidote to imposter syndrome.

Hard evidence.

Not hype.
Not affirmations.
Not “just believe in yourself.”

Written evidence.
Concrete.
Undeniable.

The projects you’ve built.
The problems you’ve solved.
The people you’ve helped.
The results you’ve produced.
The skills you’ve earned.
The battles you’ve already survived.

When imposter syndrome shows up... and it will… you don’t argue with it emotionally. You present the facts.

That’s why journaling matters.
Why recording wins matters.
Why writing things down matters.

Because memory is emotional.
But writing is objective.

And when doubt creeps in, you need something sturdier than mood to lean on.

Imposter syndrome doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path. It usually means you’re on the right one… you’re just ahead of who you used to be.

It comes with the territory of growth.

And there’s no way around it.

Only through it.

So if you’ve been feeling it lately, don’t panic.

You’re not behind.
You’re not a fraud.
You’re expanding.

Gather your evidence.
Anchor into what’s real.
