Put Generosity In Your Goals

Put Generosity In Your Goals

You probably intend to be generous. And not in a vague way.

You genuinely plan to give more… more time, more money, more help…

Once things settle down. Once there's a bit more room.

And it never quite happens, because generosity sits in the same place as everything else you intend to do without an actual plan attached.

One of my mentoring clients has started doing something I've thought about a lot since.

Every month, he completes one job for free.

Not a discount. Not mates' rates. A full job, at his own cost, in his own time.

And there are two conditions that make it work.

1. It has to be for someone he doesn't know. Not a friend, not a family member, not a past customer who might come back. Nobody who could return the favour.

2. He doesn't market it. No post, no story, no mention on the website. The only people who know are the people it was for.

It's in his 12 Month SMART Goals. Written down, reviewed weekly, sitting alongside his revenue targets, his fitness goals, his finance goals, and everything else that is important to him.

That's the part that matters.

Because an intention to give is just a feeling you have about yourself. A goal is something you either did or didn't do, and you have to look at it.

He can't let it slide quietly, because it's on the same list as everything else he holds himself to.

So here's the question worth sitting with...

You have goals for what you want to get. Do you have one for what you want to give?

If you know someone who would benefit from reading this, please forward it to them. It may change the trajectory of their life for the better, and the catalyst could be you.
