You’re Being Urgent About The Wrong Thing
You’re doing the work.
Showing up.
Following up.
Following through.
Doing everything you said you’d do... and the results aren't showing up yet.
So the frustration builds, and it sounds like this - "why isn’t this working?"
But there's a problem with that question.
You’re being urgent about results and patient about execution.
It needs to be the other way around.
Be Patient With Results
Because the path between effort and outcome is never a straight line.
The body doesn’t change on the schedule you set for it.
The people who matter don’t respond the first time you reach out.
Trust takes longer to build than you’d like, whether that’s with a customer, a colleague, or someone you love.
None of that runs on your timeline.
Be Urgent With Execution
Because that’s the only part you actually control.
The session.
The follow-up.
The conversation.
The one hard thing you keep pushing to tomorrow.
Every day you delay it, you push the whole thing further out.
There’s no version of this where being casual about the inputs speeds up the outputs.
And here’s what makes patience so difficult...
The feedback is delayed and disconnected.
The week you feel worst is often the week something finally lands. Not because of what you did that morning… because of something you did months ago that’s only just arriving.
Which means you cannot judge your effort by this week’s results. The two aren’t measuring the same thing.
Judge your execution daily.
Judge your results in quarters.
Get it the wrong way around and you’ll quit something that was working, right at the point it started to.
