Your Story Isn’t Your Identity
You’ve been telling a story about yourself for years.
What happened to you.
What you had to overcome.
What you didn’t get that other people did.
And all of it might be true… that’s not the problem.
The problem is when the story stops being something you survived and becomes something you are.
Because you can identify as the person who struggled, or you can identify as the person who overcame.
Same events. Same past. Two completely different people.
The first keeps you facing backwards. Every setback slots neatly into a pattern you’ve already accepted about yourself... "I am the type of person who struggles."
The second uses the same material as proof of capacity. You’ve done hard things. You’re still here... "I am the type of person who overcomes obstacles."
That’s a track record.
Battle scars.
Receipts.
Your past explains who you are today. It doesn't get to decide who you become tomorrow.
I have an affirmation I’ve repeated to myself for years….
"I was born to do difficult things."
Not “I’ve been through difficult things.” Born to do them.
It turns hardship from something that happened to me into something I’m built for.
Take it if it’s useful to you.
Then go and build that person.
If you know someone who would benefit from reading this, please forward it to them. It may change the trajectory of their life for the better, and the catalyst could be you.
